Nutrition is an important part of keeping a pet as healthy as possible. It is not always possible to compare pet foods by comparing labels. The "Guaranteed Analysis" is performed in a laboratory and does not tell us anything about ingredient quality. There are many different grades of ingredients. Label information does not provide the grade or quality of each ingredient. For example, hair, feathers, beaks and chicken feet would be high in crude protein but would not be useable protein for a pet. A good quality food results in shiny haircoats and low volume of stool.
Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease is a concern for cats. This is not a simple disorder caused by a singular factor. Dietary recommendations and changes should be made on an individual cat basis.
Veterinarians offer specific diets not only to treat disease but also to prevent disease and improve the quality of pets' lives. These diets are researched and monitored, incorporate unique ingredients and are of exceptional quality. The veterinary hospital team can provide nutritional guidance to ensure the pets' optimal health and answer questions about nutrition.
